The racing season is about to start, and
Quinn Simmons has set clear goals for the year 2023. The American rider considers winning a stage in the
Tour de France as his ultimate goal.
âEvery year, I hope I get that one step better, and so far, I have. I hope that doesnât change,â he told Cyclingnews. He continues, "So one week, I did a bunch of hours and then prepared. That was my first serious on-the-bike training for 2023.â
âOne thing that pops up in my head is I really want a stage in the Tour de France.â He rode in his first Tour last year and finished 66th in GC. His best result was 11th position in stage 10 of the Tour. âThe teamâs worked really well in giving me time to develop, but none of that really matters anymore. In my fourth year in a WorldTour, I need to do more,â admits Simmons.
He further added, âIn three years, I havenât once been happy with my season. Maybe in my head, I have the idea Iâll be a big rider, and itâll prove delusional, but I believe I can do it. And Iâll keep trying to do it until I know I canât.â

He makes it evident that his ambition to race and compete with the best in the world is still alive. âI donât race my bike because I like it, itâs because I like racing. You do a seven-hour training ride and then stop, you donât enjoy that. Itâs something I think I could be the best, and until I know 100% I canât be, Iâll keep going.â
He got into cycling and became a professional rider because he enjoys "the challenge more than the physical act of riding. I like the challenge of chasing something," concluded Simmons.
